During the course of his life, master composer Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) created compositions that have continued to live on long after his death. We journey into the big cities of Europe in the footsteps of the young Sibelius. Berlin, Vienna, Paris, London… It is here that the young composer studied life and music. That Sibelius would evolve into such an unsurpassed maestro composer and outstanding socialite, can undoubtedly be attributed to his early travel studies. Contemporary portrayals depict him as a civilized, refined, excitable and warm person, and having a great sense of humor. He was an all-embracing culinarist who loved oysters, lobster and bubbly champagne.

It is the home of the Sibelius family, and the birthplace of a multitude of great compositions transcribed on the pages of music history. In this landscape of Lake Tuusula, the Maestro would stroll and sense the sounds, scents, colors, moods and shades of the surrounding nature. The multifaceted Sibelius was a man of contrasts, a man who was deeply impacted by the mood of his surroundings. His love for the parties and the luxurious life of the European high society was no greater than his love for the simple, artless living in the barren nature of his Finnish homeland. Even in his late years Sibelius might sometimes say:
